Swimmers doing backstroke in a clear indoor swimming pool with visible lane markings and a clean water circulation system.

Pool water circulation

To ensure your swimming pool runs smoothly, we keep the water circulating reliably.

Whether it’s an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor swimming pool or a hotel pool: reliable pool water circulation is the foundation of effective water treatment. The pumps circulate the water through the treatment circuit and back into the pool. The flow rate, energy consumption and operational reliability must be tailored to the requirements of the system.
SPECK offers suitable pump solutions for different pool sizes, water qualities and installation scenarios. A range of designs, carefully selected materials and appropriate drive and control concepts enable customised configurations. Service-friendly designs simplify maintenance whilst the system is in operation. In this way, our pumps support reliable and cost-effective swimming pool operations – from new builds to the modernisation of existing facilities.

Benefits of SPECK

Moving water. Ensuring operations run smoothly. Using energy effectively.

Reliable performance for your swimming pool operations.

From hydraulic design to maintenance: SPECK combines the right pumping technology with well-thought-out solutions for the day-to-day running of public swimming pools.

Tailor-made design
A range of sizes and customisable hydraulic systems allow you to select a pump to suit the required flow rate and head.
Cost-effective operation
Carefully calibrated speed control can reduce unnecessary energy consumption and adapt the flow rate to the intended operating conditions.
Compatible materials
Suitable housing and seal materials allow the system to be designed for different water qualities, including versions suitable for saline water.
Service-friendly design
In series such as the BADU Block and BADU Block Multi, the drive unit can be replaced without disconnecting the connected pipework.

Application

Indoor and outdoor swimming pools – sports and teaching pools – leisure and water parks – hotel and wellness pools – therapy and exercise pools – thermal and brine baths with appropriately designed pump systems

Technical Specifications

The flow rate, design and materials are tailored to the treatment cycle and the water quality of your plant.

Designs and series

The following pump series, amongst others, are available for pool water circulation:

  • BADU Resort: Block pumps with an integrated fibre trap and plastic casing, suitable for use in hotels, spa facilities and larger swimming pool complexes, for example.
  • BADU Block: Normal-suction, single-stage volute casing pumps in a vertical monobloc design with a pre-filter. Depending on the version, various combinations of metallic materials are available.
  • BADU Block Multi: Normal-suction, single-stage volute casing pumps in a vertical monobloc design with pump and filter casings made from engineering plastics.

The selection depends on the required operating point, the water quality and the spatial conditions.

Hydraulic design and speed control

The pump design takes into account the required flow rate and the pressure losses in the treatment circuit. With the BADU Block and BADU Block Multi, the impeller can be adapted to the respective operating point. Performance curves, dimensional drawings and material combinations are available in the SPECK SELECT design programme.

Suitable frequency converters enable different speeds for the intended operating conditions, such as circulation, filter backwashing and rinse cycles. The flow rates required for water treatment form the basis for the control system.

  • BADU Eco Drive II: For compatible pumps and motor power ratings, including those within the BADU Resort series.
  • Control: Depending on the system, via digital inputs, 0–10 V or 4–20 mA.
  • BADU Resort-PM: Models with synchronous drive for operation via a suitable external control system.

Materials, waterproofing and specific water qualities

The choice of materials takes into account the composition of the water, the temperature and the operating conditions. In this context, the casing, impeller, seals and other components in contact with the fluid are considered as a whole.

  • Plastic versions: BADU Resort and BADU Block Multi use different technical or reinforced plastics, depending on the component.
  • Metal versions: In the case of BADU Block, grey cast iron and copper-tin alloys, amongst others, are used depending on the version.
  • BADU Resort-AK: An intermediate housing and a labyrinth disc structurally separate the seal chamber from the motor. This protects the motor and bearings from any escaping fluid, as well as from crystallising salts and minerals.
  • Special requirements: Special sealing materials are available on request for BADU Resort-AK. Suitability for water containing salt, brine or minerals is determined on the basis of the specific operating conditions.

Pre-filters and maintenance

Integrated fibre traps or pre-filters prevent coarse contaminants from entering the pump’s hydraulic system. The size depends on the respective series and model.

  • BADU Resort: Fibre trap capacity approx. 10 litres; suction strainer mesh size approx. 3.4 × 3.2 mm.
  • BADU Block Multi: Filter housing with a capacity of approx. 9 or 19 litres, depending on the size; mesh hole diameter approx. 3 mm.
  • BADU Block: Filter housing with a capacity of approx. 13, 29 or 71 litres, depending on the size; screen hole diameter approx. 3 mm.

With the BADU Block and BADU Block Multi, the modular design facilitates work on the drive unit whilst the pipework connections remain in place. Sufficient access must be provided during plant design to allow for cleaning and maintenance.
