1909 In the spring 1909, Master Mechanic Daniel Speck, together with
his five sons, founds the family's
business of Daniel Speck & Sons in Nürnberg, Germany. In
the same year they manufacture their first
plunger pump with draining device and put it on the market.
1918 Very shortly after World War I, the first domestic-water plunger
pumps, precursors of our present
domestic-water pump generation, are produced. Since then, Speck
has marketed many pump types,
until World War II brought the Company's dynamic expansion to
an abrupt end.
1947 The founder, Daniel Speck, dies. His five sons carry on their
father's life's work. Several branch
offices and agencies are established within Germany. In 1959,
an Independent Sales Company is
added to the three manufacturing companies: Speck-Pumpen Verkaufsgesellschaft.
1964 Speck Swimming Pool Technology is launched, well known today
for products like BADU-Pumps,
BADU Counter Swim Units, BADU Solar Panels and Valves with Control
Systems.
1967 The World's first corrosion resistant plastic pump for residential
swimming pools is introduced.
1979 Because of the Company's continuing expansion, the premises
in Nürnberg soon become
insufficient and the Company moves its headquarters to Lauf
upon Pegnitz near Nürnberg.
1994 Hermann Speck, great-grandson of the founder Daniel Speck, takes
over.
